When the past conflict dashed the hopes of many, indigenous savings and credit groups and microfinance institutions provided a beacon of hope for mainly the rural poor to sustain their livelihood in the difficult period, according to a report. The report presented by the Society for Partners in Development during a two-day workshop on 'Empowering Women in a Conflict Situation through Microfinance' held on Thursday further recommended that a gender sensitive microfinance model should be adopted by all NGOs, INGOs and policy makers
