CPN-Maoist has issued
directives to farmers in the
district asking them not to
repay loans taken
from Agricultural
Development Bank Limited
(ADBL). Maoists issued the
circular, placing demands
that the loans issued to
farmers be exempted and the
bank write off investments
made on the agricultural
sector. “Rather than
supporting the farmers in
their income generating
endeavors, ADBL has been
disposing their properties
and has pushed them to the
streets. Therefore, we have
sought exemption of loans
issued to farmers,” said
Ram, a district committee
member of the CPN-Maoist.
Local Maoist leaders here
have coined new slogans,
which say that their party
could exempt agricultural
loans to farmers once it
joins the government.
