Minister for Finance Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has said the government is actively engaged in creating investment friendly environment. In an interaction program, organized here today by Ministry of Finance on 'Foreign Investors in Nepal and Feedback for the Forthcoming Budget', Minister Dr. Mahat said government of Nepal is working for resolving problems faced by industries that are run under joint investment. Stating that the Ministry has given top priorities in projects that would attract foreign investment, he expressed commitment to incorporate recommendations to be made by the discussion programme. On the occasion, joint venture entrepreneurs stressed the need to maintain peace and order in the country, to end double tariff system and to make procedures in importing raw materials from third countries easier. Stating that frequent declaration of public holidays by the government has affected industries, they stressed the need for efforts in resolving labor problems. Indicating that there are ample of investment possibilities in the sector of water resources they said liberal policies and additional flexibilities are needed in this regard. In the programme, Secretary at Ministry of Finance Bidhyadhar Mallik and Acting Secretary for Revenue Rameshwor Khanal said Ministry is prepared to move ahead by embracing reform according to changed political context.
