As the donor community has
expressed confidence in
running development projects
in Nepal following the
return of democracy and
peace, the inflow of foreign
aid has witnessed an
upswing. The country
experienced an impressive
growth of 42 percent in
foreign aid commitment
during the first six months
the current fiscal year. The
data of Ministry of Finance
shows that the country
received a total foreign aid
commitment worth Rs 20.26
billion, up from Rs 14.28
billion during the same
period last year. Of the
total sum, Rs 14.10 billion
came as grants, while loan
commitment totaled Rs 6.16
billion. The country
received Rs 9.21 billion aid
from bilateral donors, the
whole amount being grants.
On the bilateral aid front,
USA stood as the highest aid
provider with a commitment
to give Rs 2.44 billion.
